Kettles will boil across Wagga Wagga for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea
Since Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea began in 1994, millions of Australians have come together over a cuppa and a bite to eat in support of those affected by cancer. Last year alone, the simple act of generous participants hosting a morning tea raised more than $11.3 million nationally. In 2020, the official day to host a morning tea is Thursday 28 May, however Wagga Wagga
residents can register to host at any time throughout May or June – or later in the year when COVID-19 restrictions ease further.
“In the past participants have hosted Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea in gatherings with friends, family, work, school or community colleagues,” said Christine Williams Cancer Council’s Community Relations Coordinator. “But with coronavirus restrictions some people are choosing to host their Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea virtually. “People are getting together over Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and apps such as House Party and having a morning tea, playing virtual games and donating online.” Cancer affects people in so many ways and impacts every community in Australia, with more than 138,000 Australians estimated to be diagnosed with cancer this year. All donations fund Cancer Council’s life-saving research, prevention, programs, advocacy and support services.
